Overview
The Silverheels 18 features a "Softlite" Ionomer foam collar/fender on a fast, safe and seaworthy welded aluminum hull.
Our most recent Silverheels 18 was built for a client who will be carrying research scientists in the Aleutian Islands. They needed a vessel able to safely carry inexperienced personnel, provide a stable work platform while operating in rough water and withstand numerous landings on rocky beaches.
The “Softlite” collar provides full time fendering for laying against a ship or dock, diverts spray and gives additional positive flotation. It's the same collar used by the Coast Guard for the Motor Lifeboat fleet.
